Happy Mother’s day to all you moms out there. Your unconditional love and encouragement makes the world go round. We celebrate life each and everyday at JDP and without you that wouldn’t be possible. Below are some of my favorite moments with moms in and out of the studio. 
We would also like to recognize some moms who are now watching over their family from heaven. You are dearly missed and never forgotten!

I was recently interviewed for a local magazine. The topic was how to get natural smiles from your children. This is something I work hard at each and everyday at my studio. Reflecting on our current photo culture, it is so very different from when I was a child.
When I had my picture taken as a child it was a very special event. My mom or dad loaded the camera with film and we only had 24 exposures to capture family moments. Much thought and preparation went in to setting up the “shot” and there was a silent prayer each time the shutter clicked that no one would blink and waste a frame. Precious and valued moments were made. These days we live in a very different “photo culture”. It seems everywhere you turn someone is taking a picture with a cell phone, camera or even an iPad! Our kids are constantly being asked to pose, smile or interact with a photo device. That can make getting natural expressions challenging.
At JDP we treat sessions more like play dates. Start by playing with your child and getting them to relax. Have the camera out, but don’t use it until after you feel your child is connecting with YOU. Being silly and encouraging creative expressions as opposed to “smiles” is a great way to start. If things get silly enough those sweet smiles will come naturally so have your camera ready. Working one on one is best, it can be overwhelming to have many people asking for your child’s attention.
Photographs are about connections people make with each other. Pictures are just a wonderful product of good memories. Enjoy some of our family memories captured on Kodak film that isn’t even produced anymore.

Choose Between Two Options
Option 1: $95 for a classic session + 8×10 + 5×7 (a $210 value)
This fantastic 30 minute weekday shoot includes an in-studio photo shoot for up to five immediate family members, youngest subject must be at least 8 months of age (a $150 value) and an 8″x10 and a 5×7 print (a $60 value).
Option 2: $65 for an in-studio styled session & Prints (a $150 value)
A fun 15-minute styled-session weekday photo shoot, valid for up to three children from the same immediate family ages 8 months and up (a $50 value). With this option you receive two 5″x7″ prints and one sheet of wallet prints from the same pose (a $95 value).
The Fine Print
Sessions must be booked between now and May 15, 2013 and prints selected by June 15, 2013. No exceptions. Call the studio to book your session right away!
All prints in the styled session are of the same pose. Customers will be able to order their prints one week following their shoot.

Don’t the holidays seem to be upon us earlier and earlier each year? The first time I hear Christmas music when I am out always makes me smile! I’m looking forward to some white snow and hot chocolate in the coming weeks!
We have been diligently filling orders and seeing lots of beautiful holiday cards leave the studio in the past few months. I want to remind everyone that our holiday deadlines are approaching.
Portrait sessions with images available to order for December 23 delivery must be booked and completed by December 3.
Holiday card orders must be submitted by December 7 for a delivery date no later than December 19.
Holiday album orders (storybook, not our fine art wedding albums) must be ordered by December 3 for a December 21 delivery.
Print orders must be submitted no later than December 10 for a December 21 delivery.

You have seen him on the Jimmy Fallon show, at games, with Miss America and even in Congress…
It is no secret that we are huge Butler fans here at JDP. I love all things Blue, most especially their furry mascots. It was a great honor to host Blue II with Blue III in the studio. It was a really fun shoot and so endearing to see how well Blue II is doing training his little shadow. Blue III will be a seasoned pro in no time! Not that Blue II is losing any of his energy. Blue is still jumping and talking as if he is three years old. Just love that dog! Something about seeing them with Everett just makes my heart melt. Everett is such a special little boy–always smiling even if he doesn’t feel so great!! Michael and Tiffany are amazing parents to all THREE of their children. Go Bulldogs!

It is that time of year again! This year we have a brand new lineup of amazing holiday card designs with a new and efficient holiday order system. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces in the studio to enjoy our new set designs and outdoor photography! So here is this year’s holiday special:
Holiday mini session 100.00 includes 30 minute session in and around the studio for up to 4 people (pets included). Online private gallery and slideshow and complimentary holiday card design. The first few families that sign up get 25 holiday cards complimentary! We do have a few rules to follow:
The session must be scheduled Monday-Friday 9 AM-3:30 PM.**
If you aren’t available during this time the mini session is 125.00 and doesn’t include holiday cards, but is still a great deal! Our availability on weeknights is limited so we recommend you call fast to schedule! We don’t have any weekends available until late December and so that means your holiday cards would be New Year cards, but we have great designs for those as well!
**The holiday offer does not apply to crib club members for their included annual sessions.
