One of the things I love most about photography is the constant education, especially when on a commercial job. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting with Randy from Eden Farms, Inc. As it turns out I have purchased their basil many times from Fresh Market and Whole Foods. So fresh and LIVE, which is best when obtained from a local farmer like Randy. I didn’t know much about hydroponic farming, but WOW. What an incredibly efficient and CLEAN way to grow herbs and lettuce year round. The facility or greenhouse had many green features (and I’m not just talking about the leaves). In the summer months air is actually cooled by water as it passed through vents to maintain a constant and consistent temperature that keeps the plants happy. I hope you enjoy these pictures. Randy is a caring and kind farmer and I feel lucky to have met he and his wonderful wife, Andrea. They are making a difference in this world! Off to enjoy some homemade pesto…mmm.
